NFL Picks from a 5-year-old

It started at the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. The Patriots were the huge favorites, sporting a 17-0 record and vying to be only the second NFL team in history to finish the season undefeated. On top of which, the Patriots had beaten the Giants a few weeks ago.

Of course, my daughter, Little E., didn't know any of this. She was 3 at the time.

I asked, "Who do you like?"
"The Giants," she said. "Because my favorite color is blue."

The Giants, as everyone knows, pulled off the huge upset.

Since then, Little E. has been right about 90% of the time. Only recently, have I started to ask her which teams she likes and I can't only remember once, maybe twice, she has been wrong.

Here are some of her recent correct picks:

Alabama over Florida. (college football).

Just this past weekend, in the NFL wildcard play-offs:
NY Jets over the Cinncinati Bengals. (she didn't know where Cincinnati was.)
Baltimore Ravens over Patriots (she didn't know what a Patriot was.).
Arizona over Green Bay.

Based on her logic, Arizona Cardinals because she didn't know where Green Bay is or what a Packer was?

I have to start thinking like a 5-year-old, and I'm definitely having her fill out a March Madness bracket this year.
